Hotels Hambleton

Barnsdale Hall Hotel

North, Oakham LE15 8AB, UK – 01572 757901

Stayed here for the night of a family wedding. Our room was beautiful and finished to a high standard. We were very lucky and had a wonderful view from our balcony of the beautiful surroundings of Rutland water. You need not want for anything here as everything is provided for your comfort. Would thoroughly recommend it for your stay in the area if you want luxury and comfort.

Staff 10/10, rooms were a bit old 7/10 (bathroom was great), gym was too rusty and limited equipment. The restaurant had nice dishes and the waiters were the nicest. The pillows and mattresses were not great as I struggled sleeping. However, I am sure this will get better as the people there are willing to make your stay great.

The Finch's Arms

Oakham Road, Hambleton LE15 8TL, UK – 01572 756575

What a wonderful place the The Finch's Arms is, excellent food, service and atmosphere. I highly recommend! We sat outside on a glorious day with our border collie and were looked after perfectly. Thank you staff.

Ok so it was a gorgeous sunny day.. so stunning to sit outside. Welcoming staff, lovely place and nice food and drink.. Good views from outside too.... But it was also nice inside so don't let the rain out you off!

Barnsdale Lodge Hotel

Exton Ln, Oakham LE15 8AH, UK – 01572 724678

Beautiful setting near Rutland Water. Smart restaurant with attentive staff and excellent food. Prices start from £6 starters, £18 for a main course and £6 for dessert. Good wine selection. Large car park and beautiful grounds. A visit here is always special, whether for lunch, Afternoon Tea or evening.

We went for lunch not to stay. The food and service are very good. Sat in the pretty courtyard in the sun and watched all the bird life...sparrows and chaffinches in abundance. My only advice would be not to let smokers spoil the main courtyard....they could be sent elsewhere. I am sure the place is large enough to accommodate this. Otherwise it spoils it for others sitting outside eating and drinking or just enjoying the air.

I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Hambleton Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

Mill Street Pub & Kitchen

6 Mill St, Oakham LE15 6EA, UK – 01572 729600

Had a really fantastic lunch here, the service was top notch. The beer was delicious and great selection. Conservatory was a lovely location to eat. Couldn't say a bad word about it

We had some delicious cocktails here! I drank mine five times faster than my friends (they were soooo nice) so the experience became a bit of a blur! They were reasonably priced. The decor is lovely. There were children milling around quite happily. The staff were friendly and efficient. We did not order food.

Wheatsheaf

2-4 Northgate, Oakham LE15 6QS, UK – 01572 756124

Had a couple of baguettes with by with wife which were very tasty. The home cooked chips were particularly nice. The beer garden was small and enclosed but pleasant on the warm day we went. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only downside, and a big one, was the beer. Since this is an Everard's pub the choice was limited to the bland "ales" despite the interesting sounding names. A great pity if you are looking for a nice place with decent proper beer.

Nice pub to visit sat out in the garden which is very beautiful and full of pretty flowers pink purple and white .Lovely shrubs and very pleasant to sit in,it has a very English cottage garden feel and the the view of the church steeple makes a stunning feature of interest to look at and take photos. The surroundings are old stone buildings of character and are picturesque. There were also pretty lights and English bunting that gave it a party happy feel. If you like playing pub bowls there is a section for that to . It is dog friendly and the family in front of us had four lovely dogs that were having a nice time and were given bowls of water to drink from and had supper with their owners . They tucked into their meal and appeared to enjoy it . We just had drinks as we had a pre booking at a restaurant but will definitely try it out next time.

The Lord Nelson

11 Market Pl, Oakham LE15 6DT, UK – 01572 868340

I liked the pub and found the staff very pleasant and helpful. There were three of us and we decided to have lunch. One, decided to order Pasta and two of us ordered a Pork Dish. The Pork Dish was served with vegetables which were a little undercooked. The meal overall was more than acceptable. When I went to pay the Bill I offered as payment a £50 and a £10 note and was informed by the staff member that they did not accept £50 notes. It was fortunate that I had smaller denomination notes on me, as otherwise I would have had the embarrassment of having to ask my friends to assist as I did not have my credit/debit cards with me. This could have been embarrassing with my friends and It is unlikely that I would return here because of this experience.

Always decent real ales and friendly service, whenever I visit. Service at the bar can sometimes be frustratingly slow. The staff are always busy yet professional and polite. The atmosphere is relaxed and cosy. A quiet, classy, country pub, in the heart of the market town. The food is always reliable, but there's not much choice for the gluten intolerant or vegans.

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Pheasants Roost - Rutland Bed & Breakfast

Lyndon Rd, Manton, Oakham LE15 8RN, UK – 01572 737800

Campsite is very nice and only takes 5 caravans but is a great location. Pub 10 mins walk away. Owners are very nice. Shame we are only here two nights

Strange experience. We had been on site for two days, had booked five. When I told the owner that we were leaving the next morning , I was quite willing pay my dues for two nights plus an additional £10 she was not happy. Offered the £10 back but wanted me off site immediately, I declined to leave until the next morning. She returned later, gave me back all my money with the ultimatum to leave within the hour or she would call the police. We left.

Kirkee House

Lakeside Guest Accommodation

The Lodge Stamford Road Barnsdale, North Shore, Rutland Water, Oakham LE15 8AB, UK – 01572 722422

Rob has a good set up. Room comfy. TV room is good. Better than watching TV in rooms. Breakfast excellent. Plenty parking. Would recommend. Warm welcome.

Really great spot for those wanting to cycle round the lake and into Oakham as the building is located right next to the cycle path. Rooms nice and clean and we had the run of the lounge. The host had very kindly laid on a big log fire for us which was really lovely. Breakfast was excellent and the location very peaceful. If you are looking for a cosy b and b to base a long cycle - this place is fab.

The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
